General Manager, Global Projects
Responsibility for project execution in a global organisation
As part of Union Engineering’s Global Senior Management team, and with reference to the CEO, it is your responsibility to ensure that customers worldwide experience world class project execution. You make sure that timelines, quality and performance live up to agreed conditions as well as budget and cash flow objectives.
You will lead a team of dedicated project managers and commissioning professionals, who are located in Denmark, USA, Brazil and China – and your criteria for success is therefore to roll out and refine Union Engineering’s project model and best practice across markets and cultures.
Your most important task will be to create an overview of plans, resources, finances and delivery, so that Union Engineering is on top of customer expectations at all times – and subsequently to take leadership for the project execution. You will get a key role in the company’s value creation, as you are responsible for projects from signing of the contract to the final delivery of the projects, and you will be working closely with Engineering and Supply Chain.
The foundation of every successful project is laid already in the sales- and contract phases, and together with the sales organization, you are expected to take an active role in the sales phase in order to ensure a contract base that you and your project managers can use actively in the project execution.
Experience with technical project management from a global organisation
The role requires strong competencies within technical project management. It is therefore a prerequisite that you have some years of experience with leading a technical project department where technology, project economy and contractual issues have been your primary fields of work.
You have demonstrated that you are capable of bringing a team into play, and that you create the framework that enable project managers to succeed by creating overview and by facilitating cooperation across the different functions within the company and with customers and other stakeholders. You understand the benefits of discussing contracts with the sales organization, and you understand the challenges in the supply chains. Another criterion for your success is that you can gain the trust of the customers and the organisation, so that everyone has a common agenda when the project faces challenges.
You still wish to manage projects yourself, and you know that this gives you the best foundation for understanding and managing business implications as well as your project managers’ everyday tasks. Your educational background is within engineering, and with your interest in the commercial part of business, you have most likely supplemented your technical background with a commercial education. The job is global and it is a requirement that you speak and write English fluently.
