Application Scientist – Dairy Bioprotection

We are introducing the use of bioprotective cultures as a natural way to inhibit unwanted food contaminants in the global dairy industry. Reduction of food waste and cleaner foods are just two of the exciting perspectives that you will be part of achieving.
Deliver cheese technological expertise to support global sales
Your overall objective is to support sales by presenting and tailoring bioprotective solutions to dairies all over the world. As such, you will independently plan, run and report activities related to technical customer support, both in terms of on-site support and laboratory support. Your primary tasks will be to:
- Present bioprotective solutions at customer meetings, customer visits and seminars
- Support customers with high-class technical advice including the design of field trial protocols and on-site plant reviews
- Plan and report trials made in the laboratory or in-house pilot dairy – in collaboration with Laboratory Technicians
- Coordinate multiple projects and tasks simultaneously – linking to our R&D, Commercial Development, Sales and customers
You can look forward to travel 1-2 times per month to international dairies. Africa and the Middle East are two of the areas where we see great potential for our solutions.
Degree in Dairy Science, Food Science, Biotechnology, Microbiology or the like
Your theoretical foundation is a degree at minimum M.Sc. level in Dairy Science & Technology, Food Science, Biotechnology, Microbiology or the like. This is backed by at least a couple of years’ experience from a dairy or a supplier where you have worked with cheese production and analysis including microbiological analyses. Preferably, you bring hands-on experience within the production of continental cheeses.
As such, your professional interest and motivation is founded on cheese, and you – like us – can see the great potential in this business area. Being our technological expert and ambassador at the customers’ sites you must have the ability to present technological solutions in an inspiring and informing way. Additionally, you will need your open-minded approach towards partners and colleagues with other cultural and professional backgrounds. Being responsible for multiple tasks covering many stakeholders you must have a solid overview and a structured way of working – and thrive on handling your tasks independently.
About Dairy Bioprotection – your new department
You will join 10 skilled scientists and lab technicians in the Dairy Bioprotection department based at Chr. Hansen’s headquarters in Hørsholm approx. 30 minutes drive north of Copenhagen city center. Our goal is to take the global dairy industry to a new level within bioprotection. Our work environment is open and informal and characterized by knowledge sharing, collaboration and helpfulness.
