The Associate Director of Portfolio Management and Early Stage BD financial analysis is responsible for the coordination of the Portfolio review whose outputs provide decision and analytical support across all Therapeutic Areas, regions and functions. In addition the jobholder will be responsible for carrying out financial analytics for New Business Development ideas and opportunities. The position reports to the Senior Director, PMO and Portfolio Management with a dotted line to the Senior VP R&D Global Project and Portfolio Management for matters concerning Early Stage Business Development Financial Analytics.
The R&D Global Project and Portfolio Management group leads Global development projects, portfolio planning as well as in- and out-licensing of R&D projects. The department has representatives located at sites in Switzerland, US, Denmark, China and Brazil. This position will be based in Ferring’s International Pharmascience Center in Copenhagen.
In close collaboration with the Senior Director, PMO and Portfolio Management to develop, implement, refine and maintain a cross-functional portfolio management processes that combines quantitative valuation with qualitative assessment and provide an objective prioritization of Ferring’s development pipeline.
Partner with other functions (e.g., Finance, Market intelligence and Value Planning, Business Development etc.) to ensure cross-TA portfolio optimization, risk mitigation, and management.
Manage the development and implementation of portfolio analytic models which will be utilized to characterize the portfolio and support cost and resource allocation decisions. Working closely with PMO colleagues the job holder will be responsible for monthly portfolio reports to the governance committees highlighting key variances against the baseline.
Act as the principle point of contact for the annual portfolio prioritization review and process - working closely with Project Leaders to generate relevant inputs and ensuring thorough, balanced evaluation and panalysis and timely recommendations to the governance committees, ERDC and PDCC.
Manage key portfolio activities, quality reviews and deliverables in support of periodic portfolio assessment and prioritization.
Act as the single point of contact for benchmarking analytics, both internal and external. Responsible for internal benchmarking analytic tools and sources, ensuring adherence to external benchmarking sources.
Providing timely and objective financial analytics contributing to the assessments of early stage business development opportunities and ideas, playing the key role for financial analytics under the responsibility of the Senior VP R&D Global Project and Portfolio Management.
Ensuring all financial analytics performed in assessing early stage business development opportunities and ideas meet industry best practice together with standards as set and defined within Ferring.
The job holder would suit an individual with Science as a first degree with a subsequent business or financial qualification and a broad perspective of the Pharmaceutical Industry, Drug Development and Portfolio management methodologies with several years in a similar portfolio management position. The job holder should also be able to demonstrate strong financial competencies to support the business analytics element of the position. The job holder will be expected to work together with stakeholders at all our R&D sites around the globe and must possess the communication skills necessary for effective interaction with these stakeholders.
