Engineer Metal Specialist to the VELUX Group
Would you like to work with development and specification of metal for roof windows? Do you enjoy working with issues on both a theoretical and a practical level? You will be part of our dedicated technology development team in Østbirk focusing on generating new ideas and possibilities of using new technologies. We work cross-functionally with metal, processes and construction parts for current and future windows.
As our new colleague, your main tasks will be to:
- Spot new applications for the use of metals in product line
- Support the manufacturing sites in defining processes for metal forming
- Test the metals impact on the products and ensure they meet the specified standards and quality demands
- Scout metal substitutes
- Be the anchor person in development projects
- Communicate results and findings to steering groups and management
- Identify relevant external business partners, scientific partners and suppliers
The position entails collaboration with both internal and external parties abroad, therefore it requires that you communicate fluently in English, both orally and in writing. You must expect approx. 30-50 travel days per year.
We imagine that you have a background as engineer or material specialist in metal/aluminium including several years of experience from a similar position. It is essential that you have excellent technical skills and flair for mechanics (processes and test configuration). Knowledge of aluminium surfaces and aluminium in general as well as knowledge of the metal trade/insight from manufacturing will be a strong asset.
You have a practical, methodical and analytical approach to task solving, and you take pride in obtaining knowledge and documenting your working procedures. You truly enjoy working in a knowledge intensive team, characterised by highly professional proficiencies and cross-functional knowledge sharing.
