Maternity Cover for Principal Scientist for Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), R&D for 12 months

Haldor Topsøe is a leading global supplier of sustainable process technologies and catalysts for refineries, and chemical processing plants – a position achieved through a unique combination of research, process design, sales, and production. We now offer a position as maternity cover in our Analytical and Characterization department while one of our Principal Scientists is on leave.

The department offers SEM analyses, covering investigation of structures and chemical analyses, of our catalysts and materials used for our catalysis related technology. Our facility comprises various types of light optical microscopes and SEM combined with various techniques for chemical analysis.

Your daily tasks will include analytical work on our SEM’s. This also includes analyses on our electron microprobe, which is dedicated for chemical analyses by Energy Dispersive and Wavelength Dispersive X-ray spectrometry, EDS and WDS, respectively. The analyses will mainly be requested by the development projects in our R&D. You are also expected to take part in our development of working processes and procedures which has a high focus in the company. Practical experience with SEM and microprobe analyses is preferred.

Your responsibilities

  • Perform SEM and microprobe analyses for the projects in R&D
  • Keep a contact to the projects requesting the analytical work to assure that the right results are provided at the right time
  • Set up procedures to improve quality and efficiency of the analyses
  • As part of the SEM team create an easy access to SEM for the projects developing catalyst.

You have a master or a PhD in physics, chemistry, geosciences or a related field and experience within material characterization techniques. It will be an advantage if you have experience with microprobe analyses and software used for the data handling. We expect you to have good communication skills in English and preferably also in Danish.
