Category Manager for strategic sourcing position

About the department
Strategic Sourcing is the central sourcing unit in Novo Nordisk’s Product Supply division, and we are responsible for securing that we have suppliers in place that can support Novo Nordisk’s worldwide pharmaceutical production. Through collaboration and negotiations with international supplier networks, we ensure availability of the supply needed to produce our end products that help so many people around the world to live with chronical diseases. Devices & Needles is one of the departments in Strategic Sourcing and we source materials, components and tools for all our injection devices globally.

In the Devices & Needles team, you will have 11 close colleagues, and in the strategic Sourcing area as a whole, we are more than 60 people. The continued supply availability is crucial to our patients that are living with chronical diseases and ensuring this will be your main task and responsibility. Specifically your responsibility encompasses: developing category related market insights in order to identify relevant sourcing opportunities and risks to act upon, ensuring that sourcing strategies are in place depicting the strategic direction for how to secure supply to Novo Nordisk both short term and long term, sourcing of moulding and assembly services used by our manufacturing, ensuring relevant sourcing advice to support Novo Nordisk device innovation and decision making with a time horizon of up to 10 years and strategic collaboration with key suppliers.
The job requires you to be on top of the global market trends and dynamics within devices and ensure timely responses to both sourcing risks and opportunities. Your success depends on your ability to bridge between the needs of the organisation and the realities of the market, creating the best supply solutions for Novo Nordisk.
This position will offer you a unique opportunity to work in close collaboration with key stakeholders from various parts of the organisation needing our advice and you will build a considerable knowledge of many of the production processes behind the success we are experiencing. Similarly, you will establish and maintain strong relations to our global suppliers, and you will apply a balanced approach to quality, delivery and cost as the beacon that guides you through a complex landscape of business critical decisions.
As our suppliers are placed both in Europe, USA and South America, you should expect up to 20-40 days of travel activities per year. This rarely offered position holds ample opportunities for personal and professional development, and will quickly establish you as the go-to person within your area.
You hold a degree as M.Sc. or MBA in Supply Chain Management, Finance, Business or similar. You have been working with strategic sourcing for at least five years preferably at a large international company. You have a commercial mind-set and an ability to quickly understand different business models and industry dynamics. You have experience from making sourcing strategies that set the direction and guide actions and priorities in the daily work. Additionally, you are an experienced negotiator with an eye on the ball and an ambition of creating maximum value in the relationship. Your analytical skills are strong, and you have a solid understanding of numbers.
As a person, you are confident when navigating in big organisations. You are able to impact decision-making through clear recommendations, always founded on solid data and analysis. Since the job requires you to create a broad range of trustful relations across and beyond Novo Nordisk, we expect you to be an outgoing person with a strong personal drive and dedication with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Additionally, you thrive in a busy environment and bring a ‘can-do attitude’ and a healthy sense of humour to your work also when the pressure is on. Lastly, you are fluent in both verbal and written English.
