Procurement Category Manager Packaging

Arla’s Procurement department is strengthening its position towards the global Arla organisation through category based reporting lines and increasing the number of employees to deliver on the ambitious targets. 
Join Arla’s Procurement team spread across Denmark, Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, UK, Poland and Hong Kong. On behalf of our global organisation, we manage procurement activities of an annual spend of ~3.5 billion EUR. You will work out of Aarhus and report to our Procurement Director. 

Take charge of sourcing projects and manage stakeholders  

As a procurement category manager, you have category responsibility for purchasing specific packaging products in the categories: corrugated, labels, cartons and bag in box. Thus, you will be responsible for a multimillion euro purchasing budget, and you will be an active player in daily purchasing activities and projects in a strategic, tactical and operational way.  

One of your primary tasks will be to define procurement strategies for your area and abovementioned sub-categories. More specifically, you will be working closely with the Danish and Swedish production sites, managing key stakeholders in connection with changeover designs. As such, you will work closely with colleagues throughout Arla, ensuring effective category strategies and category roadmaps, and you will:  

  • Establish and develop optimal relationships with our suppliers and drive tenders 
  • Proactively benchmark prices to ensure best custom value when our designs change using Ariba Sourcing Tool  
  • Drive various projects, e.g. a colour optimisation project and a vendor managed inventory project.

MSc with strong negotiation skills and category management experience 

Your background covers a commercial degree at master's level, supplemented with a solid purchasing experience as well as technical and economic knowledge. Whether you have worked at an international company or perhaps as consultant within Packaging, you have acquired strong project management skills driving processes, including negotiating and landing contract agreements. You have equally sharpened your stakeholder management skills, and as a result you know exactly how to approach and secure buy-in from demanding and challenging stakeholders. This also calls for a sound business understanding, an open mind-set and the ability to level your communication directly to your audience. Possessing these qualities, you master the discipline of developing strong relations to different stakeholders across cultural borders.  

Personally, you see yourself as an outgoing, independently working change agent with a strong drive and win-win approach. You are motivated by achieving your goals both independently and in close collaboration with others. You are a team player who thrives in a dynamic, international work environment with many stakeholders and where objectives and priorities shift continuously. Lastly, you are fluent in written and spoken English.
