Product Development Engineer for VELUX Innovation Centre
At the VELUX Group, we give you the chance to grow. To shape your own career. To work in an international environment. To be part of a company that leads the market in sustainable indoor living. We offer you a world of opportunities – if you have the ability and the drive to take them.
Are you ready to develop the next generation of best-in-class solutions that create better living environments by bringing daylight and fresh air into people’s homes all over the world? Would you like to do it with one of the strongest brands in the global building materials sector?
We are looking for an ingenious engineer with a high drive who would thrive as a key part of our innovative team. If that someone is you, then this job may be your next exciting career move.
We are looking for you to join our Growth team in the VELUX Innovation Centre in Østbirk, where you will work together with your 8 new colleagues, and in collaboration with internal production, market, external suppliers, institutes, etc. Here, you will dedicate yourself to idea and concept development of new innovative products that are not (yet) part of our core portfolio, such as new flat roof windows and sun tunnels.
“The Growth team is where the magic happens. We participate in front-end development projects where we get to throw ideas around for new innovative window designs and digital solutions. As part of this team, you will also get the chance to get creative and pitch in with inventive ideas that may become finished products that you can see implemented in future building projects,” says Magnus Sommer, Senior Manager of Value Stream Growth.
Your main tasks include:
- Idea and concept development, including the visualisation of physical or digital solutions in 3D CAD
- Doing robust design methodology, ensuring design and construction probability and predictability
- Simulation on relevant designs and features to qualify solutions
- Internal prototype and development testing including test requisitions as well as developing new test methods if required in collaboration with the test department
- Creating documentation for design and manufacturing specification in PLM
Part of your job will be to participate in Stage Gate projects where you will be involved in all project phases and the decision-making for every phase. This includes presenting technical issues at review meetings and participating in relevant seminars and fairs – nationally as well as internationally. Therefore, a certain amount of travelling must be expected – approximately 10-20 days per year.
On a personal level, you are truly motivated by constructive challenges, documentation and verifications, and you have the desire to move things forward. You are a self-driven and independent yet forthcoming person who gathers energy from working in a knowledge intensive team based on collaboration.
We are open towards your experience level as long as you know how to do construction drawings and function as a creative resource with the ability to work with concept and idea development. Moreover, you:
- Have an engineering degree, either on bachelor’s or master’s level
- Preferably, have some experience from working with product development or mechanical design
- Ideally, have experience with Creo knowledge in robust design methodology such as Six Theta and knowledge of PC, PU, wood and aluminium as production materials
- Look forward to collaborating with many nationalities across the VELUX organisation, and you have strong communication skills as well as fluency in English
You will be part of a dedicated team characterised by an informal tone and a healthy sense of humour working as one to reach our ambitious results. We believe in empowering people, and we support this through knowledge sharing, delegating responsibility and investing in people who strive to make a difference.
In the VELUX Group, we believe that commitment and professional development contributes to great company results. Therefore, we give you the chance to grow and to shape your own career, and we offer you a world of opportunities – if you have the ability and the drive to grab them.
