Specialist for Industrial applied Chromatography
– Purification of Bioactive Milk Component

Tetra Pak Filtration Solutions with offices in Silkeborg/ Aarhus, Denmark and in Champlin, Minnesota, USA is the group competence centre for membrane filtration. We are looking for an application specialist in the field of liquid food Chromatography, to help Tetra Pak expand the business of bio active food ingredients, in particular bovine lactoferrin, from different milk sources for the global dairy industry. 
You will be part of our Centre of Expertise in Silkeborg/ Aarhus. You will be working within the area of food applications based on Chromatography and your focus will be on building application knowledge and description of full Line Solution concepts. Development and demonstration projects will be executed together with customers, business partners and suppliers as well as other business streams in Tetra Pak. 

What you will do

  • Develop & optimize applications for the purification of bioactive milk proteins, in particular bovine lactoferrin, (industrial applied chromatography) at global dairy company
  • Develop & optimize analytical assays for the qualification and quantification of bioactive milk proteins and related impurities as part of a global bioactive milk project
  • Develop & Optimize Line Solution concepts in close collaboration with other Tetra Pak organization and third party suppliers and partners. 
  • Plan, conduct and report customer´s related bioactive milk protein application projects 
  • Establish and maintain close contacts and collaboration with global internal and external experts/researchers for the processing of bioactive milk proteins
  • Follow closely the market/technology development in the field of bioactive milk proteins 
  • Identify new application areas in the dairy and food industry (e.g., downstream processing in Precision Fermentation)  
  • Report technology and results at customer seminars/meetings and train colleagues globally in Chromatography and analysis of bioactive milk proteins
  • High level scientific discussion with deep knowledge of chromatography technology with customers
  • Co-ordinate the process development projects and trials with external partners - supervise the execution of the trials/experiments at the customer site
  • Coordinate, conduct and manage small scale and pilot scale application trials at the different internal and global customer projects 
  • Identify opportunities for results and findings of the global projects to be used in sales situations or marketing material - facilitate & support the transfer of this information into the corresponding marketing and product management teams

We believe you have

  • A degree in Bio-, Food- or Pharma- Technology, Chemical Engineering or similar 
  • + 5 years research and development experience with a strong focus on the development of purification processes for protein.
  • +5 years hands-on experience in the use of downstream processing technologies for the purification of proteins (e.g. chromatography)
  • Sound technical knowledge and hands-on expertise in development and use of analytical assays for the qualification and quantification of protein samples 
  • Deep technical and hands-on experience and know-how in the processing/purification of bioactive milk proteins, in particular lactoferrin, derived from bovine milk or other sources
  • Thorough  understanding of the importance of good documentation practices and seeing the value in creating solid validation documentation of test methods and supporting documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Strong expertise in the techniques and standards used in the global dairy/milk industry
  • Solid hands-on experience in the use of radial-flow-column technology (packing, operation, maintenance/ issue resolution)
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in the use of chromatography
  • Ability to discuss/ communicate technical/ scientific know-how at different  levels
  • Training and coaching of colleagues
  • Ability to work in a global cross-functional team environment
