Job description:

Based in Aarhus, Denmark, reporting to the Manager Center of Expertise, Ice Cream Process Units, you will lead a team of about 13 mechanical designers.
Tetra Pak Ice Cream Solutions develop and deliver complete industrial ice cream production lines worldwide. The solutions are developed and engineered in close cross-functional collaboration between our mechanical, electrical, and automation engineers as well as other internal and external stakeholders. The team is responsible for the mechanical design of a certain range of our ice cream machinery from early idea and development to deployment of solutions for our customers. As Manager of Mechanical Engineering, you will possess ownership of standards, methods, and tools. You will drive the mechanical engineering agenda internally and externally with many stakeholders.

What you will do

The main responsibility will be to ensure that the department

  • delivers high efficiency through standardization and modularisation
  • delivers quality in the engineering of our components and machinery through a robust and functional design that is made for manufacturing, installation, commissioning, and operation
  • drives competence development to ensure constant quality and efficiency improvements
  • drives implementation of new technologies, new ways of working, and improvement of design tools
  • drives resources and competence planning to match the business need

Other Tasks

  • define standards and optimize procedures under which the team operates
  • identify potential ways to automatize processes
  • develop the team constantly to ensure high performing
  • contribute to decision-making around technical/business issues

Expected annual traveling is about 20 days.

We believe you have

To be successful in this role we believe, you have

  • at least 5+ years of proven successful management background preferably gained in a matrix organization within a technical field with direct reports
  • a solid experience in working with the design of complex equipment, and automated equipment, ideally combined with hygienic design
  • Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering is preferred. Alternatively an engineering background within the process, chemical, and material technology, Mechatronics, or similar can also be relevant, and preferably with food industry experience
  • good knowledge of mechanical design tools
  • excellent English skills are written as well as spoken, and preferably you have work proficiency in Danish
  • build up close collaboration with internal stakeholders: for example project teams, product management, and operations
