Head of Recourse Denmark

About the role
As Head of Recourse Denmark, you will take on a key, hands-on leadership role with direct reporting to the Nordic Head of Recourse. You will have overall responsibility for leading and further developing If’s recourse operation in Denmark, with accountability spanning people leadership, operational excellence and financial results.
The role combines strategic oversight with active operational involvement. You will coach and support Recourse Lawyers and Recourse Specialists, while working closely with key stakeholders across Business Areas (Private, Commercial and Industrial), If’s global Branch Office network and Claims units. A central focus will be on strengthening recourse identification, continuously improving recourse processes and ensuring high quality and efficient handling.
You will also play an active role in Nordic and international collaboration, contributing to the standardization of recourse processes and staying ahead of relevant legal developments and trends within recourse handling.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Lead, motivate and develop the Danish recourse team consisting of 11 highly specialized professionals
- Hold end-to-end ownership of the Danish recourse portfolio, including overall performance and results
- Act as a Nordic facilitator for the International Recourse group and contribute to cross-border collaboration
- Initiate, drive and implement improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency and ways of working
- Take primary responsibility for implementing If’s AI‑boosted Recourse Operating Model in Denmark
- Handle selected recourse cases personally to maintain strong operational and legal insight

The Nordic Recourse Team is a collaborative, cross‑Nordic unit within the Large, Complex & International Claims function. Our purpose is to secure recourse recoveries in a structured, effective and efficient manner, thereby minimizing operational costs and creating value for the business.
The team is characterized by a strong sense of professionalism, openness and mutual trust. We value knowledge sharing, constructive dialogue and a supportive team spirit, where colleagues across countries learn from one another and succeed together.
While you will be an integral part of the Nordic Recourse Team, you will also work closely with local claims handling units. The collaboration is based on partnership and proximity to the business, with a shared ambition to identify all potential recourse opportunities. Together, we build best practices, strengthen capabilities and ensure consistent, high‑quality recourse handling across the organization.

Your professional background within claims, recourse and/or legal work enables you to navigate complex cases with confidence, while maintaining a strong focus on quality, efficiency and results. You bring structure and ownership to your work and balance hands‑on involvement with leading and supporting a team of specialists.
You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working across functions, countries and cultures. Sharing knowledge comes naturally to you, and you actively contribute to building strong networks and best practices within recourse and claims handling.
Your curiosity and openness to learning enable you to continuously deepen your understanding of claims processes, systems and legislation. You pay close attention to detail and take the time to understand the facts of each case, while also coaching your team to pursue recourse opportunities proactively and professionally. Fluency in both Danish and English allows you to operate effectively in a national, Nordic and international context.
